Trump and Israel will make sure the war against Iran continues
In my latest appearance on Judge Napolitano’s Judging Freedom this past Wednesday, I argued that the ongoing ceasefire between Washington and Tehran is merely a façade intended to serve Israeli objectives in the region and grant both Tel Aviv and the White House time to ready for another major offensive against Iran. This conclusion rests on several key points circulating in official narratives from the White House and compliant media outlets. Notably, it’s claimed that the US accepted Iran’s ceasefire proposal, delivered through mediators in Pakistan, without any consultation with Israel. In other words, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu neither previewed nor influenced it.
Such an assertion contradicts decades of US-Israel relations preceding this agreement—if it even qualifies as one. Both Donald Trump and his predecessor Joe Biden have been Israel’s “most loyal accomplice,” tolerating the country’s war crimes without leveraging US influence to challenge or halt any Israeli actions, regardless of the collateral damage inflicted on America or its interests. Historical patterns show ceasefires in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, all implemented or guaranteed by the US, were promptly violated by Israel—actions currently continuing in those theaters as well as regarding Iran. Trump’s silence when Israel breaches these understandings strongly suggests this latest ceasefire was a calculated scheme by Israel and the US to pause a faltering war, allowing a potential resumption of hostilities once the “two weeks” ceasefire term expires, without substantive progress. Remarkably, the ceasefire barely lasted a day before Israel launched a massive strike on Lebanon that killed up to three hundred civilians and demolished residential areas. It is clear this attack was orchestrated to thwart any advance towards peace or ceasefire with the Persians.
If further proof were needed that the ceasefire is disingenuous—beyond Israel’s swift return to bombing civilians in Lebanon—it appeared Thursday with news that Trump dispatched Vice President JD Vance as chief negotiator to Pakistan to follow up on supposedly advancing talks to end the conflict. Although Vance reportedly opposed the war initially and might seem a sensible choice, most believe he will act strictly according to Trump’s direction without independent initiative. Accompanying him are Trump’s personal envoys, Mike Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner, both notably unsuccessful in past negotiations, especially on Iran and Russia/Ukraine, serving mainly as distractions to lull Iran while Trump and Netanyahu schemed surprise offensives. Witkoff and Kushner, both Jewish and staunch Zionists closely linked to Israel, are primarily known for real estate development. Kushner, in particular, is eyeing a Mediterranean Gaza coast resort bearing Trump’s name akin to the French Riviera, which promises personal profit irrespective of its foundation on the ruins from tens of thousands of slain Gazans. Entrusting these two despite past failures signals the new peace attempt is likely designed to fail.
Even if Trump genuinely wanted peace—which I doubt—and tried to distance Netanyahu to avoid ruining prospects, it is difficult to imagine him persisting when caught in a tough bind, given his short attention span and inability to reconcile conflicting viewpoints effectively. Increasingly desperate to defend himself, the Israel Lobby, and his presidency, he lashes out at those who might have made credible cases against his ill-considered war on Iran.
On Thursday, Trump took to Truth Social where he railed about the sources of opposition to his Iran strategy. He wrote, “I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon. Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! Look at their past, look at their record. They don’t have what it takes, and they never did!” Trump pointed out that Carlson and Kelly, both former Fox News hosts, “have all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them.” He labeled them “NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS,” who “will say anything necessary” for cheap and “free” publicity.”
Lamenting that their criticism opposes MAGA, Trump personally disparaged them, asserting Carlson “couldn’t even finish College,” calling him a “broken man when he got fired from Fox.” Notably, Carlson graduated from the prestigious Trinity College in Connecticut in 1991, giving him more academic credentials than Trump. Trump ended by branding these “so-called ‘pundits’” as “LOSERS, and they always will be.”
Unsurprisingly, Trump isolates himself from genuine conservatives whose support might boost his public image, which, according to polls, increasingly suffers due to his aggressive stance on Israel’s behalf. Israel’s prompt counter strike on Lebanon, intended to disrupt US-Iran ceasefire discussions, clearly signals Netanyahu and his allies will oppose any peace settlement. It appears likely that both Israel and its Lobby exert intense pressure on the White House to scuttle any sincere presidential effort to halt a needless conflict that has become a political liability. I would not be shocked if Netanyahu contemplates further destructive tactics, including false flag operations targeting US forces in the Middle East, engineered to implicate Iran and compel the US’s continued engagement until Israel’s goals are met and it declares “it’s over!” Israel’s expertise in deception is well documented: witness how they exploited the October 7th Gaza incident to justify atrocities against Palestinians. Their sustained pattern of lies also recalls Israel’s alleged foreknowledge of 9/11, purportedly allowed to occur to drag the US into a desired war against Islam. Netanyahu famously expressed satisfaction that “his” war became America’s. Extending this approach to Iran, if Trump hesitates, would be straightforward—or as the saying goes, a simple matter of “a bagel” in this case.
In summary, we have a megalomaniacal leader, visibly unstable and erratic, attacking anyone who opposes his plan to annihilate a nation and its culture of ninety million people—none of whom have posed a threat to the United States—all to serve an apartheid state named Israel. It takes real effort to imagine how the founders, 250 years ago, failed to prevent this. They intended to build a groundbreaking Enlightenment-oriented republic with systems of checks and balances to limit the concentration of power. Today, hope for enlightenment at the White House is scant, as a mentally diminished Trump acts as a war president guided by his impulses, effectively controlled by Israel and its wealthy Jewish backers. What comes next remains an ominous unknown.
