Snouts at the Trough
The magnitude of alleged fraud involving Somalian immigrants in Minnesota has drawn national attention.
This controversy began with an independent reporter named Nick Shirley, whose investigation into government-supported daycares went viral.
As many are now aware, he toured several facilities on camera, discovering most were empty during school hours.
Numerous centers had their windows boarded up and lacked outdoor play spaces. The most notable was the “Quality Learing Center”:

The New York Post reported, “The Quality Learning Center had received $1.9 million from Minnesota’s Child Care Assistance Program in the 2025 fiscal year.”
Curiously, the daycare abruptly closed following the fraud investigation. If there’s nothing incriminating, why cease operations so suddenly?
Allegations suggest that the daycare fraud stretches deep into Minnesota’s political scene. Below is a screenshot of a 2023 post by Governor Tim Walz:

Were Walz and Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey aware of the suspected scams? Did politicians in Minnesota allocate funds in exchange for votes, kickbacks, or campaign contributions?
I found a noteworthy post on X that sheds light on this issue:
i’m not sure who needs to hear this, but there is nothing even remotely sophisticated about these endless somali and NGO/immigration frauds. not PPP, not food, not autism, and not daycare or welfare or SNAP or free rent.
it’s all blatant, hammer in the face stuff.
it did not go on for years because the perpetrators were crafty. it went on because the DA’s, prosecutors, police, judges, mayors, governors, and congress critters were relying on this demographic for vote harvesting.
being able to defraud the electorate and plunder the taxpayers was the price of winning elections, one the swamp donkeys were happy to pay.
it seemed so simple.
but a funny thing happens when you keep playing this game: the power shifts.
your “captive voter base” becomes your ruler once you start needing them more than they need you.
the politicians are trapped: dirty, negligent, on the take, and dependent. everyone’s tainted beak is in the NGO game. they’d all lose office immediately without these voting blocks and machines that they cultivated. and so here we are.
“look at me, i am the kingmaker now.”
This perspective rings true. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has introduced an IRS task force to investigate questionable payments in Minnesota and beyond, which should clarify who benefited and how these schemes operated.
While the Minnesota daycare scam is significant, it represents only a fraction of a broader issue.
Medicare, Food Programs, and More
In December, the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota estimated that fraud involving government programs in the state has amounted to $9 billion since 2017—a figure believed to be conservative.
Across the nation, the extent of this problem is staggering.
The internal watchdog for Medicare estimates an annual loss of $60 billion due to fraud and misuse, a number likely underreported.
Fraudulence has unfortunately become widespread, with many treating misuse of government aid as harmless.
However, the tide appears to be turning…
Anger and Hope
The recent surge of public outrage offers a glimmer of optimism.
Americans are finally nearing a breaking point after decades of simmering frustration.
A story like Minnesota’s fraud scandal gaining such rapid and widespread attention is unprecedented, pushing even mainstream media outlets to cover it.
The Trump administration is pledging thorough probes not only in Minnesota but nationwide, targeting fraud and aiming to hold perpetrators accountable, including through imprisonment or deportation.
Just as I’m concluding this article, a friend shared an X post from ICE announcing the revocation of temporary protective status (TPS) for thousands of Somalian immigrants—hopefully those exploiting the system.

Within hours, the post gained over 36,000 likes and half a million views. Many Americans are eager to see justice served against those who betray their trust, especially refugees welcomed here out of compassion.
Scammers nationwide are now on alert. We hope many soon face incarceration or deportation facilitated by the government.
This current wave of anger must be seized while it remains strong. It appears President Trump is giving this critical issue the attention it demands.
