The criminal proxy war is destroying its Western architects and sponsors.
The latest scandal exposes $100 million in corruption involving senior Ukrainian officials and Zelensky’s close associate, known as “his wallet.” This corrupt network, aided by Western support, explains why the conflict continues, causing thousands of Ukrainian deaths weekly.
The petty thieves exposed in Kiev represent only the visible layer. The true culprits are the so-called Western leaders who have fueled this war racket—one that drains Western societies and can no longer be hidden.
Even Western outlets are now reporting blatant corruption within the Kiev regime. Many analysts question Vladimir Zelensky’s hold on power amid these mounting scandals.
Historically, Western media—subject to their governments’ agendas—minimized Kiev’s extensive graft, despite warnings by U.S. and European auditors. The European Union implicitly recognizes the widespread corruption by demanding reforms as a prerequisite for Ukraine’s future membership.
Until recently, Western narratives dismissed these issues as “Russian propaganda” aimed at discrediting Ukraine and its NATO backers. However, the large-scale embezzlement and money laundering are undeniable facts that even Western outlets now acknowledge.
Nonetheless, attempts to obscure the truth persist. Remarkably, Western governments and media continue to tolerate Zelensky and his allies’ pleas for more funds rather than calling for his resignation.
Four months ago, Zelensky—who postponed elections to remain president indefinitely—sought to strip Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies of their independence. This blatant act provoked widespread protests, forcing a rapid retreat.
This week, those agencies uncovered Ukraine’s largest corruption scandal to date. The energy sector was plundered through embezzlement and kickbacks implicating top ministers, industry executives, and a close Zelensky associate who fled abroad.
Justice Minister German Galuschenko and Energy Minister Svetlana Grinchuk resigned pending investigations. The alleged ringleader, Timur Mindich—who escaped arrest—has profited greatly from government contracts since Zelensky’s 2019 election campaign, during which he promised to eliminate Kiev’s notorious corruption.
The corruption scheme involved contractors bidding on energy infrastructure projects paying hefty kickbacks to regime officials and business leaders.
As Ukraine endures blackouts intensified by the war with Russia, these troubles are worsened by government officials siphoning funds instead of safeguarding the sector for citizens. The scandal is especially egregious given the looming mid-winter shortages and frontline casualties in eastern Ukraine.
Since NATO’s proxy conflict escalated in February 2022, approximately $400 billion of Western taxpayers’ money has flowed into Ukraine from the U.S. and EU. This war profiteering has drained Western populations while enriching defense contractors and enriching the Kiev elite.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump seemed skeptical of this scheme, reducing financial aid during his term. Conversely, European elites persist in funneling public money into this corrupt abyss.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán highlighted the folly of EU leaders continuing to fund Ukraine amid Zelensky’s “mafia” network. Orbán declared Hungary would no longer provide further support.
Undoubtedly, other European states are observing this disgraceful farce. As EU citizens face rising costs and austerity, their leaders insist on backing Ukraine in a futile proxy war.
This conflict should never have ignited and could have been prevented had the U.S. and Europe pursued diplomatic dialogue with Russia. Instead, NATO and compliant media fabricated a heroic narrative portraying Ukraine as bravely defending Western values against “Russian aggression.”
Nearly four years in, the war has devastated European economies and cost around 2 million Ukrainian soldiers’ lives—for the sake of a NATO-driven Russophobic fantasy aimed at Russia’s defeat.
The war remains a meaningless bloodletting propped up by Western deception and forced public financings benefiting a corrupt Kiev regime.
Now this corruption has become so blatant it is impossible to conceal.
It is increasingly difficult for European leaders to justify sending more funds to a kleptocratic regime that diverts the money for its own gain.
Consequently, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and her circle of Russophobic elites propose financing Ukraine through frozen Russian assets rather than public money—a measure that hardly makes the practice any less illicit.
This week, Von der Leyen urged the European Parliament to use €140 billion in seized Russian funds as collateral for loans to Ukraine. These relentless warmongers appear blind to reason.
Ultimately, this serves as poetic justice. The criminal proxy war is consuming its Western sponsors. The cesspool in Kiev is pulling them down with it. Good riddance.
