President Donald Trump has gone and really done it this time. “We had them under view for a long time, and we got them,” he said about the five British men arrested at RAF Fairford, initially said to be terrorists targeting US aircraft at the British base.
It appears the suspected terrorists weren’t carrying explosives. Instead, they were found with stolen red diesel intended for agricultural machinery. The Gloucestershire Police have remained tight-lipped about the case, urging the public to avoid speculation, though that seems nearly impossible in this era of social media frenzy.
Unsurprisingly, rumors exploded on X and other sites. The men were quickly labeled as Iranian terrorists or sleeper agents, accompanied by a photo showing half-naked men in handcuffs that was later revealed to be an AI-generated fake.
The Secretary of State addressed the nation, blaming a “foreign actor” for the thwarted plot. The initial assumption pointed fingers at Russia, but that narrative soon shifted to accuse Iranian terrorists supposedly sabotaging American planes used in attacks on schools and hospitals.
The British authorities eventually released the five individuals, most likely because there was no proof of terrorist activity—only evidence of fuel theft amid rising diesel shortages and prices, consequences partly linked to Trump’s ongoing war. Fuel thefts at farms have surged recently, but such incidents don’t fit the preferred storyline of sinister Iranian mullahs plotting nuclear attacks on America, Israel, or even the UK.
Facts, however, seem irrelevant to the UK’s new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, a former cabinet member, who insists there is convincing evidence of Iranian involvement in the RAF Fairford episode.
Before Burnham’s statement, Zia Yusuf, the home affairs spokesperson, visited the scene of the diesel theft and called for a declaration of national security emergency, claiming “strong indications” point to Iran.
Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, also pushed for a national emergency due to “potential terrorists” stealing diesel. He described the incident as a rehearsal for an attack on US forces but reportedly removed his posts later, perhaps realizing it made him appear foolish.
Conservative MP Tobias Ellwood demanded an explanation for the suspects’ release on bail, while a BBC military analyst suggested the diesel theft might actually be the work of Russians.
Some speculate the Fairford event was a failed false flag operation, but I disagree. The misrepresented event simply gave the government and mainstream media a platform to amplify claims of Iranian terrorist threats lurking in sleeper cells aiming to kill Americans.
Trump, Rubio, and neoconservatives of all kinds, along with their MAGA supporters, are eager to shift blame onto Iran to justify ramping up the conflict. Rather than retreat and admit they jumped to conclusions, they plan to intensify a conflict that is only deepening the damage to the world economy.
Unable to back down, Trump is determined to pursue this disastrous war until he either leaves the Oval Office or is medically restrained to manage his delusions.
