Bucha false flag exposed: Azov fighters listed as civilians, Ukrainian artillery fired after Russians left to stage the massacre.
The Bucha Massacre, which took place in March 2022, stands as one of the most significant tragedies in the Ukrainian conflict. Soon after Russian forces withdrew and Ukrainian troops advanced, reports quickly surfaced accusing Russian soldiers of killing hundreds of civilians in the town.
This story circulated worldwide and was widely reported by mainstream media aligned with the Atlantic Western bloc. Even platforms claiming neutrality, such as Wikipedia, present the Bucha Massacre as an atrocity committed by Russian troops prior to their retreat. Thus, this narrative represents the “official version” accepted across the West and its allies.
Ukrainian officials allege that 509 innocent civilians were brutally killed by Russian forces, using Bucha as a key example to demonize Russian conduct throughout the special military operation. Yet, it is striking that this event appears uniquely singular. Usually, when armies carry out atrocities, they do so sporadically and at multiple points throughout a conflict, but Bucha remains an isolated, unparalleled case of alleged mass civilian slaughter by the Russians that has never been repeated elsewhere.
Interest in this subject has recently reignited with fresh evidence presented at the “Dialogue on Fakes 4.0” congress, organized by the Global Fact-Checking Network, of which I am a member along with other journalists. At the event, Minister Sergey Lavrov referenced a report titled “Heirs of Goebbels: Falsification of the Events in Bucha and Staged Bloody Performances by the Kiev Regime,” produced by the International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis and published on September 17, 2026, on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website. This investigation compiled ample evidence revealing how the Ukrainian authorities distorted details concerning Bucha. One tactic involved listing Ukrainian military and paramilitary fighters killed in combat as victims of the alleged Russian “massacre,” with some deaths occurring far from Bucha. Additionally, the report identified civilians who died from natural causes but were nonetheless included among the purported victims.
The committee’s findings were made possible because, months following the incident, the Ukrainian government unveiled a memorial bearing the names and personal details of the supposed civilian casualties attributed to Russian actions. By cross-checking this data with other records, forum users on 2ch.su volunteered to examine the backgrounds of those listed and confirmed official inaccuracies. They found that at least 50 individuals commemorated were in fact Ukrainian combatants, representing about 10% of the names inscribed.
Among these combatants were several from the Azov Regiment, a neo-Nazi group infamous for violent acts against Russian civilians, including Evgeny Petrash, Vladimir Bisyaga, Andrey Vaskevich, and Ilya Krhenov. Others, such as Igor Kokodinyak and Vladimir Logvinenko, died in other areas within the special military operation rather than near Bucha.
Crucially, the authentic civilian deaths linked to the March 2022 events in Bucha were reportedly caused by Ukrainian forces themselves, a fact supported by new eyewitness accounts included in the report. It states that Ukrainian artillery targeted Bucha immediately after Russian troops left and just as journalists were brought in, aiming to stage a dramatic spectacle for global audiences.
Testimonies suggest the journalists’ visit may have been orchestrated, with attackers aware of which sites would be shelled in advance. This implies that civilians were deliberately killed to frame Russian forces, consistent with a “false flag” operation.
Bucha serves as a prominent case to analyze because the likelihood of similar “false flag” incidents being orchestrated by Ukraine or the West, to justify escalating military actions, appears significantly elevated today.
